Accommodation, Facilities and Tariffs
All of our rooms come fully made up with fresh linen and duvets. The use of sleeping bags is not permitted in our hostel. Unfortunately there is no bank, supermarket or gas station in Punakaiki. The nearest towns are either Greymouth or Westport for these services.
Fresh baked bread and muffins are baked daily and are for sale. Global Gossip internet cards and wifi is available.

Ruru Lodge

Terms & Conditions
Cancellation Policy
We have a 24hr cancellation policy – please call us by 6pm the day before arrival. All group booking’s require one month’s cancellation. If not enough notice is given, we will charge full price for the bookings made, unless we can resell the reservation requested. A booking is not confirmed until credit card details have been received, or some other form of full payment made.
From December 22nd until January 5th we have a one week cancellation policy on everything.
Check in/out
Check out time is 10.00am.
When arriving by car, check in is before 8pm in the summer, and 7pm in the winter.
Free Pickup from Punakaiki
Free pickup in Punakaiki from the Intercity Coaches – please let us know in advance so we can meet you. We pickup at 12.30pm and 3pm outside the Department of Conservation Information Centre – if you have to wait more than 10 minutes, please call us.
If you’re travelling on another bus line, please ask the bus driver to drop you off on the main road. Look for the AA road sign “Hartmount Place, Backpackers”, three km north of Punakaiki. You can then walk down Hartmount Place to our office, about 200 meters from the main road.
